House Resolution
2A resolution proclaiming March 23, 2005, as Junior
3Achievement Day in Florida.

5     WHEREAS, throughout our history, innovation,
6entrepreneurship, and the spirit of free enterprise have been
7the cornerstones of this nation's economic advancement and the
8underpinnings of our great society, qualities as important to
9the future of the United States as they have been to its past,
10and
11     WHEREAS, recognizing this, Junior Achievement has been a
12tireless promoter of the free enterprise system and an educator
13of our leaders of tomorrow since its founding in 1919, and
14     WHEREAS, through a combination of traditional classroom
15education and valuable hands-on experience, Junior Achievement
16helps students in kindergarten through high school gain an
17appreciation of the role played by economics in daily life and
18of the importance of free enterprise to the future of this great
19nation and this great state, and
20     WHEREAS, today, Junior Achievement has nine offices in the
21State of Florida that touch the lives of students, and through
22the fine work of just 96 employees and thousands of volunteers
23from all walks of life, including business and community
24leaders, parents, retirees, and college students, nearly 250,000
25students statewide learn about free enterprise through Junior
26Achievement, and
27     WHEREAS, teaching the value of entrepreneurship, business,
28and economics helps inspire these students to improve the
29quality of their lives, NOW, THEREFORE,

31Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
32Florida:

34     That March 23, 2005, is recognized as Junior Achievement
35Day in Florida, and all the people of this state are called on
36to foster economic education among youth and to help advance the
37worthwhile mission of Junior Achievement.
38     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
39presented to Junior Achievement as a tangible token of the
40sentiments expressed herein.
