The redesign of flsenate.gov was implemented with the user in mind. Every effort was made to preserve and enhance the functionality, accessiblility, and navigational structure of the previous design. We welcome your input and ask that you email us with suggestions for future enhancements.
Navigation
In consideration of the many users familiar with the navigation of the "Tab" design, this new design is divided into the same basic categories:
The expandable menu at the top of the left column is divided into categories that correspond to the tabs and submenus of the previous flsenate.gov site, with a few additional items. It enables users to get anywhere in the site directly from the front page, with one click.
Bookmarks for the old site will work with the new site.
The four links at the top of the page give easy access to basic site questions.
Searches
All of the search functions of the site are featured in the left column of every page:
Jump directly to a bill from any session.
Find your Senator and Representative by entering your Zip+4 Code. The question button links to additional ways to find your legislators.
Search bill text with simple or advanced search features. The question button links to search tips.
Search the Florida Statutes from 1997 to the currently published Statute books. The question button links to search tips.
Site Map
The text links in the site map, at the bottom of each page, provide access for people with disabilities to all areas of the Senate's website. The map mirrors the categories in the expandable menu.
Video Alert
When live video is streaming, an alert will appear on every page of the site, just under the header. Clicking a video link will start the video stream immediately, bypassing the video page, which is still available under the Session menu.
Printing
The "Print this Page" link appears at the top of every content page. It enables users to print only what's in the content area (with the white background), without the header, footer, or left column. This will save on printing time and ink. To print the full page design, use the browser print button.
