A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to a special election; requiring a special
3election to be held on February 7, 2006, pursuant to
4Section 5 of Article XI of the State Constitution, for the
5approval or rejection by the electors of this state of a
6joint resolution amending Section 1 of Article IX of the
7State Constitution, relating to provisions that mandate
8maximum class sizes for students in prekindergarten
9through grade 12; providing a contingent effective date.

11Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13     Section 1.  Pursuant to Section 5 of Article XI of the
14State Constitution, there shall be a special election on
15February 7, 2006, at which there shall be submitted to the
16electors of this state for approval or rejection House Joint
17Resolution No. 1843 proposing an amendment to Section 1 of
18Article IX of the State Constitution, relating to provisions
19that prescribe the maximum class sizes allowed for students in
20prekindergarten through grade 12.
21     Section 2.  Publication of notice shall be in accordance
22with Section 5 of Article XI of the State Constitution. The
23special election shall be held in the same manner as other
24special elections are held.
25     Section 3.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a law,
26if enacted by the affirmative vote of at least three-fourths of
27the membership of each house of the Legislature.
